Reese Witherspoon feetLaura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon (born on the 22nd of March 1976) is an American actress. She was the recipient of numerous awards including an Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award. Time magazine and Forbes both named her among the 100 most influential people across the world in 2015 and 2006, respectively. In 2021, Forbes named her the most powerful actress in the world with an estimated total worth of $400 million.Witherspoon began her acting career when she was a teenager, and made her screen debut in The Man in the Moon (1991). Her breakout came in 1999, with her role as a support in Cruel Intentions and her portrayal of Tracy Flick in the black comedy Election. Elle Woods, a comedy comedy (2001) and its 2003 sequel, earned her more recognition. She also starred in Sweet Home Alabama (2002) the romantic comedy. In 2005, she earned critical acclaim and won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance as June Carter Cash in the musical biopic Walk the Line. After a downturn in her career during which Water for Elephants (2011) was her only box-office success, Witherspoon decided to make an comeback to the industry and produce and play Cheryl Strayed, the drama Wild (2014). The film resulted in her receiving a second Oscar Award nomination for Best Actress. Since then, she has been working primarily in the world of television, directing and appearing in numerous female-led adaptations of literary works under the banner of her company Hello Sunshine. These include the HBO drama series Big Little Lies (2017-2019), The Apple TV+ drama series The Morning Show (2019-present), and the Hulu miniseries Little Fires Everywhere (2020). The Primetime Emmy Award was won for Outstanding Limited Series in the first of these series. She also produced the adaptations to film of Gone Girl (2014) as in Where the Crawdads Sing (1922). Witherspoon also owns Draper James, a clothing business and is active in advocacy groups for women and children. She is a member of the board of directors for the Children's Defense Fund (CDF) and was named Global Ambassador for Avon Products in 2007, being the honorary chair of the foundation.
